Melissa Avila, Rug Designer, Mexico

Melissa Avila is a rug designer from Mexico City. I went to Mexico with 91 magazine to photograph an event showcasing artisan makers and designers in the areas of homeware, clothing and fashion. It was an amazing trip, we were hosted by the organisers and given a fantastic tour of the city sights. One of the people we chose to visit on our own was Melissa as we knew her story would be perfect for a feature in 91 Magazine. We visited her home and studio where I was able to capture her home environment as well as where she works, designing her gorgeous rugs. Mexico City is a buzzing city, full of creativity, I can’t wait to go back!
